Calling Songwriters: Unleash Your Voice at the
Old Bolivar Station Songwriter Festival!

Do you dream of sharing your music with a captivated audience? The City of Sanger, Texas, wants to hear it! The Old Bolivar Station Songwriter Festival, a free, music-filled celebration, is seeking passionate performers to ignite the stage.

More than just a festival, it's a launchpad for your artistry. Gain unparalleled exposure to industry professionals, fellow songwriters, and dedicated fans. Imagine your original music resonating with a crowd thirsty for authenticity, their cheers fueling your creative journey.

This is your chance to stand out. We're looking for songwriters who live and breathe music, making a significant portion of their income through performance. You'll need a robust social media presence (Facebook, Spotify, Instagram, website) to connect with the community and amplify your unique sound.  We hire two levels of songwriters for our festivals.:  Seasoned Professionals and Rising Stars.

Seasoned Professionals:  Invited Seasoned Professionals have been writing and performing their songs for at least 10 years. The majority of their income comes from writing and performing.  This group may have one or more hit songs.  Seasoned Professionals will play for our main stage performances.

Rising Stars:  Invited Rising Stars have been writing and performing their songs for at least 2 years.  Rising Stars will play at a minimum of two venues over the course of the festival.  Shows are in a songwriter round with one to two other songwriters. Each round is an hour and fifteen minutes. During each round, you will play 3 songs. We are looking for songwriters who can go 10-15 songs deep in their songbook and are confident playing those songs before a live audience.

Rising Stars are considered on the following criteria:
You are a professional musician who makes a significant portion of your income from performing and writing your own music. 
We review a songwriter's music:

• Lyrics

• Vocals

• Mastery of your instrument 

• Song style and tempo variation

• Presence on streaming services: Have you released any new music?

  • Web Site

• Tour Schedule

• Bio 

• Social media presence

  • Facebook/Instagram

  •  Youtube

 

Rising Stars are paid a minimum of $500 for two shows and $150/per show for additional shows. The majority of our songwriters will play 2 shows during the festival. Rising Star songwriters are responsible for their own transportation to the festival and getting to and from their shows while they are at the festival.

We believe in raw talent and unwavering dreams. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a rising star, this festival is your platform to shine. 

We do not hire songwriters through bookers or management companies. If you are obligated to a management company, we encourage you to pay them their booking fees but understand that we will communicate directly with you, the songwriter.

The Old Bolivar Station Songwriter Festival is a one-day festival held on Saturday, October 5th.  Songwriters are invited to arrive on Friday to take advantage of busking and collaboration opportunities with fellow songwriters.

Applications are open to:
•    All music genres
•    Artists from both Texas and across the US
•    Signed and unsigned artists

 

We seek applicants for headline performances on our main stage and performers playing at venues throughout our downtown area.  Performers, except for our headliners, will be paid based on their location, talent, and solo or band performance in an amount not to exceed $500.

Headline performers will have performance slots of 60 - 90 minutes.

Seasoned Professionals:  August 4th, 2024
Rising Stars: August 31st, 2024
Notification of acceptance:  Notifications will be sent throughout the submission process.  The final notification date is September 4th. 2024.

All songwriters chosen to participate in this year's event may also submit a song (written by the artist) to win our songwriting competition.  The winner will receive a prize pack from LKCM Media Group, a songwriting session with Platinum songwriter Ron Grimes, and other prizes.
